What are the signs of a good latch?
- The latch is comfortable, and you are not in pain.
- Your baby's chest is resting against your body. If your baby is too far away, it will find it difficult to latch.
- You can see your baby swallow.
- Your baby’s chin touches your breast, so make sure you are not hunched over.
What are some of the Common Latching Problems?
- Your baby does not wake on its own for feedings
- Your baby lets go of the breast almost as soon as it latches
- Your baby falls asleep within a couple of minutes of feeding
- Your baby cannot suck continuously
- Your baby feeds but does not appear to be full
